    Description

A 1970 Husqvarna 400 cross.  The listing also shows 1975 but it is a 1970 with a MH frame.Frame serial number MH4585.  The oval case 4-speed engine has serial number 402659. The E-bay listing template does not offer a 1970 model year. don't ask me why.  Very nicely restored with a truly excellent original Swedish made gas tank expertly restored by Mike Carter. You will never find a finer example of a 1970 Husqvarna 400 cross fuel tank. This is  the model year correct off-set filler neck ( on the right side ).The gas tank on a 1970 Husky is the most difficult item to make new again. The few people who know how to do that are retiring from doing so because it’s so time consuming. And chrome shops are also a disappearing breed.
The title status says " clean". I had to put something. But this will be sold on a bill of sale as is the vast majority of the time.
The engine was built up by John LeFevre of Vintage Husky, in San Marcos, Ca. It has a brand new factory original bore piston by Mahl. 81.42 mm standard bore. I shipped the engine parts to John L. with brand new bearings and seals that I had gathered, but John L. would not install those new bearings and seals because they did not meet his standards. He instead installed top-shelf bearings and seals. I was out the extra cost, but glad he did so. I trust his judgement.
    New bearings, seals, gaskets.
    New VINTCO connecting rod.
NOS clutch cover with new reproduction “cheese block” screw head fasteners.
The head has a compression release. Too hard to kick over with out one.
    The head is powder coated.
    new kill button.
Reproduction stainless  steel chain  guard . The polish is excellent but hard to see with the side plates.
New Renold chain. Renold was the OEM manufacturer of chain.
Zinc plating of kick start and shift levers.
All bolts are either re-plated or brand new.
Polished Borrani rims with Buchanan stainless steel spokes.
Polished handle bar clamps with stainless steel Allen bolts. ( Black painted Allens will rust in our salty air in Santa Cruz )
    New control cables.
    New Magura controls.
    New Magura  grips.
New Metzeler tires. And new rim locks.
    New seat cover.
    New reproduction number plates
    New Reproduction air cleaner cover.
    New air filter.
New old stock inner rear fender with original paint.
a few less-than-perfect-items; The rear brake plate stay rod has a small ding on it. so does the front fender support bracket. And the kick stand steel rod is bent. I straightened it out some, but not all. Perhaps you can perfect it?
I can recommend an excellent, reliable shipper if you want. mainland United States only.
